SUCCESS is the ripe fruit of dedication, enthusiasm and effort. Green Valley School is always keen on enforcing
this meaning by directing its students' attention towards events that expose them to wider and more real - world
competitions.
'The World Environment Day' is a global day organized by the United Nations and hosted by different
countries every year. Supported by Wadi Field Science Center together with the British Council, it aims at
stimulating and encouraging the global awareness of the planet and focusing on the inevitability of preserving and
reviving our nature and environment.
GVS students showed great dedication towards the contest 'KICK THE HABIT' which carried the slogan
of the event. Their projects varied from songs to recycled toys and photographs. They imposed their influence
among other participants and took the lead by winning in most of the contests.
The celebration took place on Saturday 7th of June, 2008 from 11.00 a.m. till 9.00 p.m. at ElAzhar Park.

Caring for Earth is our most ancient, worthy and – after all – most rewarding responsibility.
To cherish what remains of it and to foster its renewal is our only hope for survival. We at GVS strongly
believe that education is the key to changing people's habits and attitudes towards the rising concerns about
environmental issues before they turn into worse crises that sweep the planet.

Overview of the ACTIVITIES that took place on Earth Day:
|
- Marathon: Walk-for-the-planet Marathon (for
parents & students) took place on Tuesday 22nd April,
2008 during the first lesson.
- Tree Tees: T-Shirt painting activity. Children
painted leaves on a plain white T-shirt. Wearing the
same leafy shirts with the same logo strengthened the
children's feelings of unity and determination in the
face of all the challenges harming our neighborhood, our
city, our country, and our planet.
- Pen Pal Letters: GVSians wrote letters to their
pen pals about Earth Day Celebration at GVS.
- 5-Minute Blackout: In an attempt to make individuals take more responsibility of the
energy they consume, all GVSians, students & staff were asked to unplug the main power
switch in their homes from 9:00P.M. to 9:05 P.M. on April 22nd
